This really helps me with learn hiragana quickly, and other words this is a good app to help me with words and the Japanese hiragana
I used this while learning the basics of Japanese while I was in college. The rhythm in which the voices speak hiragana has always stuck with me. That’s said, this app could use some improvement Teaching sentence structure would be very useful for any user of any age.
It’s an absolute bop, 10/10 A, a, akachan! Akachan! A. A! I, i, ichigo! Ichigo! I. I! U, u, udon! Udon! U. U! E, e, eiga! Eiga! E. E! O, o, onpu! Onpu! O. O! A i u e o!
SO MANY ADS. it’s a perfect app but the ads are unbearable. PLEASE LET ME PAY TO STOP ADS I WILL PAY YOU!!! until then 1 star sorry :(:(:(
Most language apps help you learn relatively at your own pace, but this one is different. While it’s true that the voices are annoying, they’ve helped me exponentially more than just hearing the word or letter once before. And the flash cards? You can’t get the same deck twice, but there’s always overlap with respect to each level. Pretty rough to start if you’re learning from scratch, I think. But after a couple of short rounds, I started to remember, and it genuinely became fun to compete with the clock and that slap-happy hand. Word of advice? Learn with the kids’ apps; they might be annoying but you’ll definitely remember. Also please release an update!!
The voices are annoying, I feel like I’m three and trying to learn Japanese without slowly going insane. It’s also way too fast, and I don’t know how to go back because everything’s written in Japanese, the language I’m trying to learn. It’s just hard to use, I don’t recommend using this if you don’t already know a lot of Japanese.
子供達が勉強する時、CMが突然出したらすごい迷惑です。CMなしのバージョンが欲しいです。あれば絶対買います。
I really enjoy the format of this app. I use other apps as well, because I like to have more than one approach - but I keep coming back to this one for the great combination of writing, listening examples, and thoughtful groupings.
This app is a lot more fun than other ones. I liked the background sounds and overall feel. If you want to learn the hiragana (and learn some simple vocabulary along the way), you may enjoy this app.
At first I liked the app. As someone trying to get into the language I wanted something to help me write out and sound the characters without having to get out the old fashioned pen and paper. Unfortunately this does not allow me to avoid that fate, and it's frustrating because this app is almost perfect. The problem is they expect you to drudge through writing out several characters before even attempting to having you draw one from memory. The problem with this means you won't; unless, you get out a sheet of paper and hand draw the same character several times and basically throw the app away at this point because it no logger s raves a purpose. To summarize, if they would pop quiz you I. Smaller chunks this app would have been useful, but they didn't. Don't waste your time. This will be more useful after you can recognize the letters by site and just need to hear them.
I recommend this app if you're a total beginner to writing hirigana. It took me a couple tries to get the hang of it and the voices were driving me nuts, but then I got it and actually the words they're saying are totally necessary if you're learning hirigana from scratch. My goal is to have hirigana down in a month before my fall class starts, so the way these lessons are divided up into 5 letter groups is perfect for me to add a new one each day while reviewing the previous ones. It's really good that they don't use romanji so you just have to jump in and think about what you're learning the way a native-speaking kid learns.
The voices in the background get in my nerves
It's so adorable it gives you pictures so you can understand what they're saying and I understand most of it. Very good app. :D
While the app is completely in Japanese it is very easy to navigate, and this is coming from someone who just started learning the language. I wanted an entertaining way to practice instead of flash cards and this is amazing! I've also learned some new words from it which is great!
This app is so simple, it helped me use my idle time more efficiently. A Plus grades in Japanese 101 and 102, and I thank this app's developers and designers. The audio is just grating and catchy enough to really sink the sounds into your memory, the symbols are a generic font that helps recognize it on the printed page- but there are several characters that do not correspond to the language's script when handwritten. To a non-Japanese, this is the difference between a print and cursive lettering, and can easily be corrected in one's spare time. To nitpickers and those generally not-impressed, the key to learning is to make it physical (trace or use a stylus), aural/oral (match your sounds with the voice prompt) and contemplative (think about the images and what they mean). This app is excellent for beginning learners of Japanese sounds and scripts.
Whaaat the heck, this demonic app sang to me then shut my iPhone down, I had a mini heart attack but was able to power it back up...
I really like how it's all in hiragana and so I'm not learning by translating everything back to English and it also contains NO romaji which has helped me a lot in learning to speak, write, and read Japanese through immersion. I play this game every morning and I'm slowly learning what the different words mean within the app. Thank you so much for creating this and I'm super looking forward to any additions that may be made.
Would help if everything was translated. It would be useful for foreigners who want to learn japanese like myself understand.
So cute and useful ^-^
I thought it would be in English but it was all in Japanese 😭
a Great app to learn hiragana! unlike most of the apps, it actually teaches the entire alphabet! cute and simple, love it!
This is easily the best and most entertaining Hiragana app that I've found. Well made, several ways of learning. Definitely give it a go!
It's all in Japanese!! I downloaded the app to learn Japanese, so how am I supposed to understand what to do if all the instructions are in Japanese!
Seriously I learned all of my hiragana through this app (or at least most of it). I can now write it very well, actually. I highly recommend this app to anyone who's trying to learn the language.
I love this app! I can even get my three-year-old to play! The only downsides are that some of the words aren't clear and after a while, the repetitive speech can become annoying...
If you want to learn hiragana this is definitely what you're looking for. While you write a soundtrack plays making the sound of the character, helping you remember not only how to write but also the sounds. Yes it is all in Japanese, but it's very easy to navigate, it even comes with multiple games. I recommend you learn a little Japanese before you get this, however, because it will help you with some of the minigames in this app. Bonus, the entire app is free! Just keep in mind this is for younger Japanese children that already know Japanese.
I highly recommend this to anyone who is serious about learning the kana. I love that it incorporates sight, touch and audio into the learning. I just wish that there were translations for the Japanese words on the side of the screen.
It's a good app but I wish I knew what I was writing. It just teaches you how to write. The problem is I don't know WHAT I'm writing. If the app could tell me what I'm writing that would help 😓
I'm learning Japanese from a friend and this has helped me SO MUCH! I absolutely love it. Also, it's very cute, or as the Japanese say, かわいい!
I learned it in only one weekend :D
ありがとう
i really appreciate this app. it has made learning a lot more fun and easier!
This app has a very good set if activities that encourage learning. I'm very pleased with the recent updates and bug fixes.
This app is so cute. I was just fiddling around in the App Store looking for an app for hiragana practice (been months since I've practiced japanese). This app had me smiling like a baby it's so entertaining. Pretty much gives cute phonetic songs while teaching stroke order. Perfect for a refresher or for beginners. Interface is entirely in japanese but easy to understand with helpful pictures. I sent this app to my cousin. Try it, it's free. (⌒▽⌒)
I installed this new update thinking it was a dictation test as my App Store described it but it's not. The update added a stroke order memory test instead. Don't get me wrong the stroke order is memory test is great and just what I needed to keep my skills sharp but it's not what I thought it was. Just saying. A dictation test that records your voice to test your pronunciation sounds like a great idea! Hope it comes up in the future. I love this app. It's helped me a lot too. Also the review where I said there was a bug where the app crashes is only occasional. It maybe a good idea if someone checked it out though. Thanks
Out of so many apps I have tried, this is the one that sticks. I enjoy every bit of it. The immersion style really helps to improve my learning speed and the childish graphic might be confusing for some but I find it amusing instead. You might feel a bit overwhelming at first due to the all Japanese interface but it's somewhat intuitive and you're just a few clicks away from awesomeness. Don't hesitate to download, you will never regret it.
Celine forced me to get the app. I think that this app is pretty good
First i was very dizzy when i saw the Japanese letters. I can't understand it well. Maybe i know how it spells but i don't know how to write it. And this app has changed everything. Now i know how to write letters perfectly. Easy to understand and simple. Must download!😊
This game really helped me be able to read hiragana! Btw it's great for car rides... If your not driving of course.
This really helps me learn hiragana and the sounds each character represent. The games are fun, but sometimes there are glitches and I can't write out the hiragana or the audio isn't clear enough to distinguish the sounds. Great app! I hope to see it improve! ^_^
Help me a lot. But it's seems like this app only have hiragana
I used this along with flash cards and it was great for learning how to write hiragana. I also like that there aren't translations, as it makes learning words more interesting "ah-ah-ahkachan" will forever be in my head
In my opinion, one of the most successful ways to learn Japanese hiragana. I was confused at first because there was no english translation, but honestly, may be better off without it; that way, we can get used to seeing the words and get the feeling of what they mean on our own. To play, just click on one of the three boxes shown on the homepage.
It's helpful how it shows the stroke order of the characters and also how to incorporate them in other Japanese words. But it would be more helpful if it had the English definition and if it could pronounce it. There were a few hiragana characters when it did, but not all of them. Most of it was jus background music.
I love this app thank you!
The app uses picture-letter association to teach the hiragana alphabet which is one of the best methods to use when teaching a language who's alphabet does not follow that of the traditional english one. Its fun to use, I would recommend anyone who is familiar with anime or manga to use this app because they may just come across a few hiragana letters used in the books/shows.
Ignore what the person above me said! Yeah it might be confusing, but I'll tell you now: if you want to learn how to write katakana, this is the app for you!! Okay well, I'll help you: when you open up the app, click on the first of the three options there, and then click on whichever you want (it's options like: a, i, u, e, o, or ka, ki, ku, ke, ko, etc.) and then it'll teach you how to write it!!! Hope this helps!! (:
Immersion. At this stage, that doesn't work for me and I find the app frustrating and difficult. I like app "Hiragana & Katakana "--very good but wanted something to help me practice writing. This app does this. But showing Romaji (as an on/off option) would help a lot.
It's very good app to know how to write hiragana, it's almost same as Japanese 2or3years old kindergarten kids do! You can start to write Japanese in Hiragana correctly, neatly with this app;)
